Andy Spriet: Celebrating a Community Leader and Fanshawe Friend
Fanshawe College celebrated a special graduate on November 5, 2009, honoring Andy Spriet with an Honorary Diploma for his personal achievements as well as contributions to the Fanshawe College and London communities. A member of the Fanshawe College Foundation board and long-time community supporter, President Howard Rundle said he was "delighted to bestow an Honorary Diploma to Londoner and Fanshawe College friend, Andy Spriet."

With training as an engineer and architect, Andy Spriet founded Spriet and Associates in 1961 and through the years has also played an instrumental role in other businesses that include the development of commercial, recreational, industrial and residential buildings and properties throughout the region.
Recruited in 2003 for a key role as a volunteer member of Fanshawe's Campaign Cabinet chaired by Bob Siskind, Andy and his wife Helen made a leadership contribution to the campaign which was recognized by the College in the naming of the Spriet Family Greenhouse on the London campus.
More than 1,200 poinsettias were grown and sold at Fanshawe's Spriet Family Greenhouse as part of the learning experience of senior students in the Horticulture Technician program.
Helping out many local projects and organizations with gifts of time, money, energy and expertise, Andy Spriet is known for his work to strengthen the community. Among those benefiting from Andy's participation are St. Joseph's Health Care Centre, London Hunt and Country Club, King's University College, Stratford Festival, London Downtown Business Association, and The Arts Project.
Always placing high value on the importance of family and friends, Andy and Helen Spriet are dedicated to a full life with three children and nine grandchildren.
