Announcing Fanshawe College's New Director of Student Success

I am very pleased to announce that Heather Cummings will be joining Student Support Services as our Director, Student Success effective November 10, 2010.

As Director, Student Success, Heather will be responsible for the student success, transition, and engagement services and student life services. She will provide leadership to the areas of Athletics, Student Academic Success Services, and Counselling and Accessibility Services.

Heather has held several key student service positions in post-secondary education including Director, Student Experience at Alberta College of Art and Design; Associate Director, Student Experience at the University of Calgary; Director, First Year Programs at the State University of New York; and Co-ordinator, University Transitional Programs at The University of Western Ontario. Heather is also an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Calgary.

Heather holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Higher Education Administration from Indiana University, a Master's of Education in College Student Services Administration from Oregon State University and Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree in Management and Economics from the University of Guelph.

Heather has conducted research and published numerous articles focused on student engagement and student services.
