College Policy Manual Changes

February 29, 2012

The following policy amendments have been made on the approval of the President, on the recommendation of Senior Leadership Council (SLC) or College Council (CC):

1-A-01 - Appendix to Policy 1-A-01: Titles of Organizational Units
Amended (Feb. 8, 2012, SLC-11-07)
The following units were relocated as a result of reorganization following the retirement of the Vice President, External Relations:

  • Applied Research and Innovation
  • Fanshawe International Centre
  • Government Relations
  • Marketing and Corporate Communications

In addition, several changes due to reorganization were made within Facilities Management and Human Resources. As well, the First Nations Centre now reports directly to Student Success.

1-G-04 Terms of Reference of the Joint Health and Safety Committees
Amended (Jan. 11, 2012, SLC-11-06)
Numerous changes throughout the policy were approved. Changes clarify the purpose and operation of the Committees, strengthen the role of the Manager, Environment, Health and Safety Services, and incorporate minor changes in the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

1-I-13 Intellectual Property Policy
Amended (Jan. 11, 2012, SLC-11-06)
This policy has been totally rewritten. Changes reflect extensive consultation through the Research Advisory Committee and the Human Resources Department, as well as advice from an IP lawyer.

1-I-16 Policy Protocol (formerly called Policy Guidelines)
Amended (June 8, 2011, SLC-10-20)
Item 3.3 was added to the policy to address procedures arising from policy. A new appendix, Appendix D: Policy Attachments, is referenced in the policy and included.

1-K-01 Acceptable Use of College Computing Resources and Infrastructure
Amended (Feb. 8, 2012, SLC-11-07)
There were no changes to the principles underlying this policy which outlines the College's right of access to all information stored on College computing resources. The amendments incorporate legal advice and clarify the College's position regarding privacy. The language of the policy was strengthened relating to employee responsibilities regarding information security.

2-D-01 College Chaplain Services
Amended (Feb. 8, 2012, SLC-11-07)
This policy was reformatted and edited for clarity and usage. Substantive changes include:

  • a clear statement of the purpose of the policy
  • addition of item #3.1.5. - a requirement for those seeking appointment as a College Chaplain to provide proof of a criminal reference check and satisfactory vulnerable screen check
  • revision of item #3.2 - the Chaplain appointment process to be effected by the President on recommendation from the Manager, Counselling and Accessibility Services

2-G-01 Student Code of Conduct
Amended (January 18, 2012, CC-11-03)
Amendments to this policy did not involve an entire review of the policy; the policy was brought to Council to address the reporting requirement in section 3.2.2. This section was revised to refer only to infractions identified in section 3.1.6.3. This was the original intent of the reporting requirement and the revision was supported by the College/Student Union Committee.

2-I-03 London Campus Library Policy, Part III – Non-Print Materials
Amended (Feb. 8, 2012, SLC-11-07)
This policy was due for its five-year review. The substance of this policy is unchanged. It was edited for clarity and updated titles.

2-I-06 London Campus Library Policy, Part IV - Instructional Equipment
Amended (Feb. 8, 2012, SLC-11-07)
This policy was due for its five-year review. The substance of this policy is unchanged. It was edited for clarity and updated titles.
