College Policy Manual Changes

May 25, 2012

This notice includes changes to policies 1-A-01, 1-H-06, 1-H-10, 2-B-04; and introduces a new policy: 2-B-12.

The following policy amendments have been made on the approval of the President, on the recommendation of Senior Leadership Council (SLC) or College Council (CC):

1-A-01 Appendix to Policy 1-A-01: Titles of Organizational Units
Amended (May 9, 2012, SLC-11-12)

The title of one unit was changed. Awards and Scholarships is now Student Awards.

1-H-06: Petty Cash Funds
Amended (May 9, 2012, SLC-11-12)

This policy was due for its five year review. Changes to the policy include a change to the definition of petty cash fund, the addition of item #3.5 and #3.7 and a few other minor changes for clarity.

1-H-10: Cash Floats
New (May 9, 2012, SLC-11-12)

2-B-04: Cancellation of Classes
Amended (May 9, 2012, SLC-11-12)

No substantive changes were made to this policy. It was due for its regular review and was reformatted to current standards and edited for clarity.

2-B-12: Assigned Off-Campus Academic Activity
(**formerly called Mobile Learning, Tours and Field Trips)
Amended (May 9, 2012, SLC-11-12)

The current policy dating from 1996 was inadequate and did not properly cover all relevant activity nor did it properly account for the safety, security and risk circumstances associated with student off-campus activity and travel in the twenty-first century. The policy was completely rewritten. It has been expanded to encompass all College-assigned off-campus student activity and has been developed with a risk management perspective in mind.
