Culinary Students Place Second in Mushroom Cook-Off
December 1, 2008
The team - Danica Livingston, Nikki Stantsos and Stacey Ramsay - is coached by course director Patrick Hersey, coordinator of the Culinary Management program. Their recipe, Ontario Mushrooms With Papardelle Noodles, Tomato, Herbs and Garlic 'En Brodo', includes five types of mushrooms.
Hersey said the recipe was formulated for the competition. He added, "The students are quite excited about the opportunity to compete."
Seven colleges entered recipes in this year's contest, the second annual Make It With Mushrooms competition for Mushrooms Canada. The other two teams in the finals are from Cambrian College, Sudbury, and Georgian College, Barrie.
The Fanshawe team finished second overall (out of seven original College entrants). As part of the prize package, a $1000 donation will be made to the College's Culinary program and the students will also receive $1000 for their hard work.
