Eat, Shop and Learn During International Week
From February 2 to 6, 2009, the College will be wearing its international essence on its sleeve. There will be an ethnic food court display and tasting in F-Hallway from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. daily. Saffron's will be the site of an International Student/Faculty Showcase on Tuesday, February 3 from noon to 2:00 p.m. Students and staff will share their experiences on the challenges and benefits of working and learning internationally.
A sale of products imported by Ten Thousand Villages will take place daily from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in H-Gallery. The sale, staffed by Rotaract Club members and merchandising students, will also be held Tuesday and Thursday evening from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. There will also be a show and sale of Arts for Aids International on Februrary 2 to 6 in F-Hallway.
The International Talent Showcase, an interactive event open to all members of the Fanshawe community, will take place in Forwell Hall on February 3 beginning at 8:30 p.m. A Caribbean Night - Pub Night is scheduled for February 5 at 9:00 p.m. at the Out Back Shack hosted by the International Club.
Featured speakers include Jean-Marc Hachey, a best-selling author who has shared his international employment strategies with thousands as author of The BIG Guide to Living and Working Overseas and as the international careers editor and columnist for TransitionsAbroad.com. Hachey has worked overseas for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, World University Service, Canadian Crossroads International, and the German Volunteer Service. Fluent in French and English, Hachey has a business degree from the University of New Brunswick and an MA in Political Science from l'Université Laval in Québec City.
Steve Matthews, Relief Communications Manager for World Vision and Jeff Eames, president of the Branch Council for Canadian Red Cross London and Middlesex and Vera Eames, a delegate to the International Committee of the Red Cross will also speak.
Jeff and Vera Eames will speak on February 4 (location to be announced). Hachey is scheduled to speak on Thursday, February 5 from 10:00 a.m. to noon in the Alumni Lounge and from 1:30-3:00 p.m. in Room D1060. Matthews will speak on February 6, location to be announced.
