TD Canada Trust donates office lease

A special contribution from TD Canada Trust was celebrated today at the new Community Employment Services office at the Nelson Park Plaza in London.

TD Canada Trust was approached by Fanshawe College, operator of Community Employment Services, last spring. The company generously offered to donate a two-year lease on the 2,600 sq. ft. surplus branch located in the Nelson Park Plaza, located just minutes from Fanshawe's London campus. In addition, TD continues to contribute the outside maintenance fees at the location.

Community Employment Services (CES) Fanshawe, through Employment Ontario, helps residents of London and Middlesex region find sustainable employment. Their clients include people who are currently unemployed and looking for access to services such as pre-apprenticeship programs, apprenticeships, and career advice and assessments. They also have information on "returning to learning" to enhance employability.

Assistance is provided to local employers wishing to access job posting services, pre-screening of clients, assistance with job fairs, hiring initiatives, apprenticeship support, access to employer tax credits, and support for employee retention.

"We were absolutely delighted with the response of TD Canada Trust in making this gift," said Catherine Finlayson, executive director of the Fanshawe College Foundation. "TD is a great contributor to Fanshawe College and this gift is one more way they are demonstrating their support of our programs and services."

"Having this facility in an accessible party of the heart of the city's east end has certainly given the clients we work with a sense of hope. Working closely with employers in the area also helps to ensure we build strong strategic relationships where enhancing the future for all is our main priority," said Darlene O'Neill, Assistant Manager, Career Co-op and Community Employment Services. "A heartfelt thanks is extended to TD for providing us this opportunity to deliver the excellent services we do!"

Since moving to the Argyle area, CES has become an active member of the Argyle Business Improvement Association, supporting their endeavours to promote local business initiatives. New companies moving into London access the services of CES to help them recruit employees, connect to the local media, and find resources in the area.
