Fanshawe to Host All-Star Charity Basketball Game

June 27, 2008
On July 5, 2008, Fanshawe College will host the fourth annual All-Star Charity Basketball Game featuring 20 of this year's college and university all-star athletes from across the country.

[All Star Charity Shootout Logo] This is the second consecutive year that the charity event will be held at the College: "Last year's event received a lot of support from the London community," says Jason Perry, event coordinator. "We hope to achieve the same success this year."

The event will feature the London chapter of the YMCA and the Children's Museum of London. Players will split into two teams, one representing the YMCA and the other the Children's Museum. The winning team will donate sixty percent of raised funds to the charity they represent while the losing team will donate the remaining forty percent to theirs.

"The All-Star event is all about giving back to our local community," says Perry. "It's about raising funds for these two organizations."

Leading this year's roster is Fanshawe coach Glenn Johnston and coach Bradley Campbell from The University of Western Ontario. Fanshawe student Omar Sybbliss, guard and member of the All-Star 07 team will represent Fanshawe at this year's game. Sybbliss was honoured as MVP at last year's event.

The game begins at 5:00 p.m. in the J Gym at Fanshawe College and will be broadcast live by event supporter Roger's Television. Admission is $12 for adults, $8 for students and $4 for children under twelve.
