October 12, 2010

On Thursday, September 30, 2010, over 300 International students gathered with faculty and staff to celebrate Thanksgiving in Forwell Hall.

Hosted by Fanshawe President Dr. Howard Rundle and Vice-President, External Relations, Mr. Jamie Mackay, and presented by the International Partnerships office, the dinner also provided an opportunity to recognize the achievements of International student award winners.

After the awards presentation, two lineups quickly formed as food was served. In one line, traditional Canadian Thanksgiving turkey and cranberry sauce was available; in the other, an international selection of Indian, Middle Eastern, Asian and South American cuisine.

Representatives from the Fanshawe Student Union were also on hand to congratulate student award winners, including FSU President Joe Scalia, who also staffed the dessert table to hand out carrot cake after the dinner was served.

In all, nearly 350 people attended the two-hour celebration, sharing smiles and stories to kick off the autumn season with reminders of the many reasons we all have to give thanks.
