Fanshawe Students Honoured With LCAE Awards

May 30, 2008
On Tuesday, May 6, 2008, the London Council of Adult Education (LCAE) presented its 19th annual London Council of Adult Learner Awards. Every year the council promotes continuing education by recognizing outstanding individuals for their commitment to learning. A single organization that is a member of the LCAE is also celebrated for its contribution to adult and continuing education.

This year's ceremony took place at the Wolf Performance Hall at the Central Library. Two Fanshawe students were honoured. Congratulations to Chetra Peo and Terrence Copeland, both graduates of Fanshawe's academic and career entrance (ACE) program, offered through the Access Studies Department. The program prepares adult learners for employment, job promotion and postsecondary education through academic preparation and upgrading.

Chetra has been accepted to Fanshawe's Business program and plans to attend the college in the fall. Terrence plans to pursue his studies at Fanshawe as well; having been accepted to all his program choices, Terrence has chosen the Science Laboratory Technology program.

In addition to recognizing student achievement, the LCAE honours a member organization that has demonstrated a commitment to learning through adult and continuing education. This year's award was presented to Fanshawe College by the English-Speaking Union of Canada, an educational charity for youth. The award was accepted on behalf of the college by Candace Miller, Program Consultant for Access Studies at Fanshawe College.

Congratulations to this year's award winners for their outstanding achievement!
