Fanshawe Wins Healthy Worksite Gold Award

At an awards breakfast this week, the Healthy Living Partnership of Middlesex-London Health Unit congratulated Fanshawe College and presented a Gold Healthy Worksite Award for 2007/2008.  This award is given to organizations who demonstrate commitment to employee health.  Excellence must be demonstrated in the areas of health and safety, lifestyle practices and the organizational environment.

In awarding the Gold to Fanshawe, the committee highlighted the strengths of Fanshawe's Wellness efforts to include:
  • ongoing commitment to developing and maintaining a healthy workplace environment
  • good evidence of a comprehensive wellness program plan for the college for 2007/2008
  • a thorough campaign to increase awareness of the prevention of musculoskeletal disorders amongst staff
  • multiple education and environmental supports related to employee satisfaction measures
  • good support for staff to assist with healthy stress management
Fanshawe College has participated in the Healthy Worksite program for seven years and has received five Gold awards and two Silver awards.
