Golf & Rec Grad a Multi-Award Winner

November 22, 2011

During the Fall 2011 convocation ceremony at Fanshawe College on Friday, November 4, Benjamin Postma, a graduate from the Golf and Recreational Club Management program, received the Governor General’s Academic Medal.  This prestigious award is given to the student who has the highest grade point average upon completion of a diploma program.  The award dates back more than 125 years, honoring student excellence in Canada since 1873. Pierre Trudeau, Tommy Douglas, Kim Campbell and Robert Stanfield are just a few who have received this award.

Ben also received the Dean’s Academic Award for the Faculty of Business. This award is also based on the student with the highest grade point average.  It is no surprise that Ben received these prestigious awards as he is a wonderful ambassador for the Golf and Recreational Club Management program.

"Throughout the program, Ben exemplified the meaning of being a dedicated student and saw value in volunteering his time to gain a better perspective on the industry," said Rob Foster, Coordinator of Golf and Recreational Club Management.  "He was well liked by his classmates and a pleasure to have in the classroom. We wish Ben success in all his future endeavours."
