International Business Student Wins FITT National Award
Juan Carlos Hernandez Hamed has been named the winner of the FITT Achievement Award in a Canada-wide competition. Juan Carlos recently completed the International Business Management (ITB) program in the Lawrence Kinlin School of Business at Fanshawe College.
The fifth annual FITT
Achievement Award honours a full-time student enrolled in an
international business program at one of FITT's recognized Educational Partners.
The award recognizes a student who demonstrates initiative in promoting international
trade in their community, college or university through leadership, academic excellence
or as an ambassador for international trade professionals or students.
At Fanshawe College, Juan Carlos volunteered with other international students and
participated in the Theatre Arts workshop (as pictured at left) where he was able to improve
his communication and networking skills.
Mr. Hernandez Hamed was a full-time international student from Mexico in the International Business Management (ITB) program at Fanshawe College from January 2010 until he completed the ITB graduate certificate program in December 2010.
Juan Carlos was an exceptional student and earned the President's Honour Roll at Fanshawe
with a 4.07 GPA. This is particularly impressive for a Spanish-speaking international
student from Mexico. His career experience includes international experience with tier
one, multi-national corporations. He demonstrated a real passion for international
business and community volunteerism.
In March, Juan Carlos accepted an offer with Proquifa, a pharmaceutical business in Mexico. The business involves importing and distributing pharmaceutical products. Juan Carlos will work in logistics in a new position as Purchasing/Procurement Manager.
With the next phase of his career set to begin in mid-April, Juan Carlos received the opportunity to travel to Europe to continue with his networking activities and also for recreational purposes. Juan Carlos and long-time girl friend, Lizbeth Munguia Samperio, also a graduate of the ITB program, decided to travel to Paris, Madrid and Barcelona before returning to Mexcio.
As they were waiting for their flight to board in Toronto, Juan Carlos received an email from Céleste Burnie, Senior Coordinator, Education and Certification at FITT confirming that he had won the FITT National Achievement Award.
