International Students Honoured

Nine former students were honoured at a welcome reception for Fanshawe College international students held October 7, 2008, in B Cafeteria.

Fanshawe College President Dr. Howard Rundle told the gathering of 145 international students, teachers and staff that the College is made richer by the presence of international students.

"You come to us from more than 40 countries and we welcome you into our College and into our lives which you make richer." There are about 500 international students registered at Fanshawe.

The nine students, who graduated at various times during the 2007-2008 academic year, maintained a 4.0 grade point average through all their courses. They all receive gift certificates from the College. Five were on hand for the reception.

The nine students are: Tein Thuy Le, China, Hotel Management; Rosycarmen Lopez Gross, Venezuela, Corporate Communications and Public Relations; Harsh Ajit Kankeshwar, India, Corporate Communications and Public Relations; Harpreet Kaur Gill, India, Business Accounting; Rusmin Teddy, Indonesia, Accounting; Charlene Myrie, Trinidad, Fashion Merchandising; Kanishk Mehta, India, Financial Planning; Yemi Stephanie Laotan, Nigeria, Advanced Filmmaking; and Yu-Jeng Yen, Taiwan, General Arts and Sciences.

Other staff participating in the event included Cathie Auger, Vice-President of Student and Staff Services; Wendy Curtis, Manager of International Services and Kim Rowe, International Student Advisor.
