Paramedic & Police Foundations Students Raise Over $16,000 for Cancer Research

April 3, 2009

First-year Police Foundations student Nick McIntoshBeginning at noon on Friday, March 6, 2009, and continuing for 24 hours, students from Fanshawe College's Paramedic and Police Foundations programs pedalled, pumped, and sweated their way toward a total fund-raising objective of $30,000 in support of pediatric cancer research.

Flanked by representatives of London's emergency services and other community partners, over 100 Fanshawe students took part in a stationary bike-a-thon held at Masonville Place mall in north London.

When the water bottles were emptied and muscles began to ache, the donations were tallied. Of the approximately $32,000 raised in the Canadian Cancer Society's first annual Battle In the Saddle, Fanshawe students were responsible for an outstanding $16,122.

Rest assured, Fanshawe students will show the same dedication in the second annual Battle in the Saddle in 2010!
