The Fanshawe College 2008 United Way Campaign is well underway. In addition to the pledge forms, we have had tremendous success with our special events! We still have a few planned . . .

Do you have items in your home that are new and unused or in excellent condition that you would like to donate to this sale? This event will be held on November 21, 2008, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in F Hallway at Fanshawe's London campus. In order for this inaugural event to be a success, we need your support! Tell us the value of your items by pre-pricing them and drop them off to David Smith in Room E1002 (London campus). Come on out the day of the event and show your support!

Book Sale

A book sale will be held next week (November 17-19, 2008) in 'F' Hallway with a percentage of proceeds going to United Way. Our previous book sale raised approximately $400. We would like to meet or exceed that total! Come on out and do some Christmas shopping!

Prizes, Prizes, Prizes!

We will be starting to sell tickets on some amazing prizes next week. For the low, low price of $2/ticket, 3 for $5 or 10 for $10 you will have the chance to be President of Fanshawe College for a day, President of the Fanshawe Student Union for a day or have the opportunity to win executive parking. The grand prize you could win is dinner for four at Saffron's with limousine service for four hours!

Facilities Management Lunch


On November 4, staff members from Facilities Management enjoyed a nacho lunch in support of United Way. The $442.50 raised brought us closer to our goal! A special thank you to Berniece Caughlin for organizing the lunch and preparing the gift baskets (with funds donated by Facilities Management!). Everyone had a great time!

Bottle Sale
The support staff of the School of Design and the School of Contemporary Media held a gift basket fundraiser this year for the United Way. During a staff meeting the group decided it would be nice to auction off a festive basket for the holiday season in addition to the ongoing United Way campaign. They requested donations from the faculty, admin and support staff in M3010 for the basket and received seven bottles of wine, a set of four coasters, a set of four red wine glasses, a bottle opener, a flavoured bread dipper, a coffee travel mug, a cheese-shaped candle and a lime green candle. Initially only advertised within the two schools, people coming in and out of the office from all areas of the College asked to participate for the chance to win. In the end, Ernie Kovach, a caretaker from B1008, won the prize. Through the support of all who entered we raised $362 for the United Way. The support staff would like to thank everyone who took part in this effort and for making it such a success.

Stairclimb
On Thursday, November 6, 2008, the annual Stairclimb for United Way was held at One London Place in downtown London. Police Foundations students ran downtown from the College to One London Place in support of United Way and two teams from Residence along with College staff participated in the Climb. A total of $611.08 was raised! Thank you to everyone who participated in this event!

Varsity Basketball Game
On Wednesday, November 5, 2008, Fanshawe College hosted Niagara College's men's and women's basketball team. All gate proceeds and ticket sales for door prizes were donated to the United Way campaign. A total of $168 was raised for the campaign!
