United Way Campaign Kicks Off With Chili Cook-Off
On Thursday, October 14, 2010, staff and students at the London Campus officially kicked off their 2010 United Way Campaign with a chili competition.
Chili judges Howard Rundle, Andrew Lockie, Janice Zolf, Joe Scalia and Mike Callaghan hard at work.
Celebrity judges Janice Zolf, Entertainment Editor from A News; 2009/2010 National Chili Champion and 2010 Upper Canada BBQ Grand Champion, Mike Callaghan; Andrew Lockie, CEO, United Way of London and Middlesex; Joe Scalia, President, Fanshawe Student Union and Howard Rundle, President of Fanshawe College definitely had their work cut out for them as they decided who makes the "best darn chili on campus."
This year's entries included the Fanshawe Student Union with "Devil's Last Meal"; Fanshawe Hospitality Students with "Burning Beef and Black Bean Chili" and defending champions, Chartwells Food Services, with their entry, "Deep South Chili".
So, who does make the "best darn chili on campus?" That would be Chartwells Food Services with their "Deep South Chili." If you missed it - or want seconds - Chartwells Director Talal Bissar reports that both beef and vegetarian versions of the winning chili will be served in H Café and the Atrium starting the week of November 1.
Chartwells' winning chili chef Kyle Vermeulen hoists the trophy
