Follow this checklist for a smooth transition to becoming a Fanshawe Falcon!

Keep in mind that some items may not be relevant to you and the order items are completed may vary from student to student. Have questions? Email international@fanshawec.ca.

To do after you've been accepted

Pay your deposit within 30 days

Ensure you have met all of the conditions outlined in your Letter of Acceptance (LOA).

Pay your first semester fees (non-SDS) or first year fees (SDS) when you are ready to apply for a study permit.

Request a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL).

Apply for a Study Permit.

Ensure you know which campus you are attending classes, if unsure check your Letter of Acceptance (LOA).

Decide where to live - Residence or Off-Campus Housing.

To do three months before school starts

Review the Health & Wellness supports available (included as part of your fees).

Review the Career, Co-op & Employment Services available (included as part of your fees).

Review the Library Learning Commons supports available (included as part of your fees).

Review the Fanshawe Student Union (FSU) supports available (included as part of your fees).

Review the Off-Campus Housing Mediation services available (included as part of your fees).

Review the Academic Supports available (included as part of your fees) and find your Academic Advisor based on your program.

Review the support available (included as part of your fees) from the Office of the Ombuds.

To do two months before school starts

Ensure your fees are paid (check financial information in WebAdvisor). Learn more about International Tuition and Fees and how to avoid tuition payment scams.

Submit your International Student Form for the term you are starting.

Research Arrival Services offered by Fanshawe International, please contact fanshawecares@fanshawec.ca if you have questions.

Attend the mandatory 5-day Fanshawe Cares Arrival Series (or watch the recordings).

Review your health insurance plan provided by Morcare.

Watch the information session on Morcare and contact us on live chat if you have questions about your Morcare health insurance coverage.

Participate in the Prepare to Learn Workshops (Virtual).

To do one month before school starts

Gather copies of your valid travel documents, including proof of funds, Letter of Acceptance, POE letter for a study permit and a valid VISA/eTA.

Ensure you have a valid credit card and/or Canadian money to use upon arrival.

Review IRCC’s Prepare for arrival - International Experience Canada page.

Attend the Pre-Orientation Prep events (or watch the recordings).

Review your Required Course Materials and know where you can access them.

Review the laptop requirements for my program, if applicable.

Review the Online Tools page and confirm you can sign into both WebAdvisor and FanshaweOnline (FOL).

Upload a photo for my FANCard, and know how/when to pick it up.

To do when you arrive

Upload your Study Permit I received at the airport to Fanshawe using the Study Permit upload form.

Pick up my FANCard (which is also my LTC bus pass).

Set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).

Update your address, telephone number, email address, and emergency contact information in WebAdvisor. Watch this helpful video tutorial.

Check your class schedule (under academic profile) on WebAdvisor.

Check FanshaweOnline (FOL) for program updates.

Attend the International Student Welcome Session.

Attend Fanshawe Works (watch your email for an invitation).

Attend your program specific orientation session.

Get your Social Insurance Number (SIN) to be able to work in Canada (watch our social media accounts for SIN clinics to help).

After the 10th day of classes - Download the Morcare App (Apple or Android) or print your health insurance card. Note: if you need medical services before that time, you can pay first and submit a claim to Morcare later.

If you have more questions about your Health Insurance coverage, visit the Morcare representative in the Wellness Centre.
