Sandals and Beaches Resorts International has recognized Fanshawe partial-load professor Richard Todd for achieving the highest revenue growth in Canada for 2024.

He received the Outstanding Sales Achievements, Canada award during Sandals global sales conference in Jamaica.

“I work hard because I take pride in my work, which makes it a bonus that my hard work has been recognized by my peers,” Todd said.

Todd teaches in the Hospitality – Hotel and Resorts Services Management Program. He said teaching students to reach their goals through hard work and by striving to be their best adds another layer to their college journey.

“Dedication is an important key to one's development so putting time and effort will make you excel in your field,” he said. “Another component is passion and love for what you do as it helps to push you through challenges and it helps you strive for continuous improvement.”

Omar Smith, professor and program coordinator of the Hotel and Resort Services Management Program, said his team is incredibly proud of Todd’s accomplishments and this achievement.

“The award is a testament to his passion for sales and marketing which has earned him tremendous respect within the travel industry,” Smith said. “To achieve this level of success, in such a competitive market, demands not only expertise but also a deep understanding of guest needs and a strong sales orientation and nobody exemplifies those qualities better than Richard.”

Todd is from Unique Vacations, the worldwide representative of Sandals and Beaches Resorts International.

“This (award) highlights the strong connection between our program and the hospitality industry, as professionals like Richard bring real-world expertise and leadership into the classroom, enriching the learning experience for our students and inspiring them to pursue successful careers,” Smith said.

More than 200 business development managers, executives, industry leaders and government officials, including Jamaica’s minister of tourism, attended the five-day conference.
