More than 2,000 students and alumni and more than 120 employers will participate in this year’s Career Opportunities Fair at Fanshawe College.
The event, open exclusively to Fanshawe students and alumni, is their opportunity to explore careers and connect directly with employers.
“Fanshawe College’s employer partnerships are core to our students' future career success,” Darlene O’Neill, director, Employment and Student Entrepreneurial Services at Fanshawe College, said. “Our students and graduates are their future workforce, and we take great pride in the calibre of talent they offer.”
In addition, students will use their networking skills to make meaningful connections with employers in various industries. The Career Fair also unites the academic and professional worlds to identify talent that fulfills the recruitment needs of organizations.
“We take great pride that one third of employers attending the Career Fair are Fanshawe alumni who return to the College to hire,” O’Neill said. “They know first-hand the skills our students have acquired through their Fanshawe experience.”
What’s more, the Employment and Student Entrepreneurial Services team offers assistance to students to make a noticeable first impression on potential employers. First, students can update their online presence by getting free, professional headshots at the fair. Photos take about five minutes and they’re on a first come, first served basis.
Second, Students can also get advice on how to make the most from Career Fair. They can attend an in-person workshop before the event where topics, such as how to prepare an elevator pitch, how to collect contacts and how to update resumes and cover letters, will be covered.
Furthermore, attendees can also use the Career Closet to look their best when meeting prospective employers. They can borrow clothes, such as suits, dress shirts, dress pants, dresses and skirts, for free.
The Career Opportunities Fair is presented by Employment and Student Entrepreneurial Services. The team provides one-stop access to employment and job readiness services through respectful, flexible, confidential and personalized service.
