Andriani S.p.A. is a leader in the innovation food sector, with a facility entirely dedicated to allergen-free production. The company develops and produces a complete range of innovative and uniquely flavored gluten-free pasta from a variety of naturally gluten-free ingredients such as: brown rice, corn, quinoa, buckwheat, mung bean, red lentils, peas, chickpeas and others.
Project Summary
Fanshawe’s English Language Institute (ELI) developed and delivered an English as a Second Language (ESL) training program to address Andriani and their employees’ unique needs. This tailored ESL training program was carefully designed to empower Andriani’s employees with foundational English skills for their personal, community and professional lives.
The Challenge
Andriani S.p.A., which specializes in gluten-free and allergen-free pasta, is building a 50,000 square-foot facility in London. Some employees are relocating to Canada from Italy and have faced challenges in adapting to a new country and workplace due to language barriers. Effective communication in their personal, community and professional settings is essential for their successful integration and productivity.
Our study experience at Fanshawe has been extraordinary. We had the opportunity to learn from experienced instructors and participate in practical projects that prepared us to effectively handle many everyday situations. Additionally, the College’s exceptional facilities and the stimulating, collaborative environment radiate positivity, making studying very enjoyable.
The Solution
The London Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) recommended that Andriani partner with the ELI for its expertise in providing unparalleled language education. To address Andriani’s English-language training needs, the ELI deliberately tailored an ESL training course to equip Andriani’s employees with the essential language skills and communication tools they need to confidently and effectively navigate various aspects of their lives, from work and home to their broader communities. The program included cultural excursions and field-based, experiential learning activities designed to help students develop their English skills while exploring London and immersing themselves in Canadian culture.
The program was highly successful, providing participants with the skills to thrive in their careers, personal endeavours and contributions to their new community. The ELI continues to open new opportunities for Fanshawe to significantly contribute to our regional economy. As a recognized industry leader and trusted partner in language training for individual students and corporate organizations, the ELI drives regional economic growth by empowering new businesses and their employees.
