Fanshawe’s Norton Wolf School of Aviation Technology is kicking off the new year with a new name: the Norton Wolf School of Aviation and Aerospace Technology.
Larry Weir, the School’s associate dean, explains the new name better reflects the recent growth of the School and signals a bold vision for the future that positions Fanshawe as a major training destination for future aerospace careers both nationally and internationally.
“Fanshawe’s aviation programs have traditionally focused on aircraft maintenance and repair, but over the past few years we’ve worked with industry partners to offer a comprehensive suite of aviation and aerospace-related programming, including manufacturing, commercial flight and the first Unmanned Aerial Vehicle certificate in Ontario,” says Weir. “There are more exciting programs in development that will prepare students for careers in flight services and a range of other skill sets.”
Graduates of the School are in high demand, pursuing careers in the dynamic aerospace industry at home and abroad, at all levels of manufacturing, maintenance, fleet service and administration.
The Commercial Flight and Aviation Leadership program was the latest addition in September 2020, made possible thanks to a close partnership with Diamond Flight Centre serving as the flight training provider.
"This is an exciting time for the Norton Wolf School of Aviation and Aerospace Technology as we continue to attract high-calibre students to leading-edge programs that prepare them for great careers upon graduation,” says Weir.
In 2016, the School was renamed in honour of the late Norton Wolf, an avid pilot and prominent philanthropist. Mr. Wolf and his wife Lucille made many contributions to London, supporting the arts, medical and educational institutions through the family’s charitable foundation.
