Fanshawe Global, in partnership with NorQuest College in Alberta and Northern Lights College in British Columbia, has been awarded an international program called Young Africa Works in Kenya-TVET, which is funded by Mastercard Foundation and implemented by Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan).
The goal of this project is to increase the participation of young Kenyans, particularly in the market-relevant skills training programs and ultimately increase the number of youths in dignified and fulfilling work. Fanshawe Global's area of focus is on supporting food security and nutrition.
During the three-year partnership (2021-2024), Fanshawe will work closely with Friends College Kaimosi TVET institution to support program development in food technology and food processing technology, gender, and inclusion strategies, mentee institutional support, and partnership exchanges.
Candace Miller, director, Strategic Initiatives and Business Development says, "We are very excited to engage in this opportunity with our Canadian partners, as well as our partners in Kenya, as this is our first global project in Africa. It also complements our strengths in curriculum mapping, teacher training and gender-responsive education."
Fanshawe Global will provide updates on this program as they become available.
Under the Young Africa Works strategy, the Mastercard Foundation is working to enable 30 million young people across Africa to access dignified and fulfilling work by the year 2030.
