On Thursday, April 12, members of one of the School of Nursing's student clubs, the Community Hub Club, held their first event: an intergenerational paint night in collaboration with the School of Design.
Activities included watercolour painting – with the assistance of several third-year Fine Art students – in the Mackie Cryderman Fine Art Studio (room D1070), a game of "two truths and a lie" and a pizza dinner in the Alumni Lounge.
The student-run Community Hub Club works with seniors living in the community as a way to enhance inter-professional collaboration among students in Fanshawe's various health care programs.
Students from the collaborative Nursing, Practical Nursing and Personal Support Worker programs volunteered at this event. In future events, students from other health care programs will be invited to volunteer.
"There were 50 participants in the first event, and the evening was a great success," says Helen Harrison, professor and coordinator in the School of Nursing. "We are so happy with the level of initiative demonstrated by our current students!"
