June 10-11, 2022 was a great weekend to celebrate Fanshawe at the Radio, Television and Digital News Association national convention in Toronto.
Journalism–Broadcast student Kate Otterbein won the program's 77th national scholarship. Kate took home $2,000 for winning the BNN Jim O'Connell Scholarship for her documentary on how the golf industry has adapted to COVID-19. She also got to meet and learn from the country's top journalists as a guest to the conference, which took place at the Hilton Downtown Toronto.
Three generations of Fanshawe journalists
Two additional Fanshawe alumni also received honours at the event, making three generations of Fanshawe journalists who were celebrated during the conference. New CTV National News reporter Adrian Ghobrial (class of '03) was a panelist on the subject of covering the Ottawa convoy. CTV London legendary reporter Nick Paparella (class of '81) received the RTDNA regional Lifetime Achievement Award. Nick was honoured for his 40 years of serving the London area as a reporter and constant presence at London charitable events.
