The Laboratory Skills Micro-Credential Series is designed to equip learners with essential competencies for success in laboratory environments. This series covers two key areas: Laboratory Skills Fundamentals and Analytical Chemistry, providing a comprehensive foundation in lab techniques, safety, and analytical methods. Through a hands-on practical approach, learners will gain proficiency in industry related lab equipment and essential laboratory tasks.

Take all of the following Mandatory Courses:
CHEM-1019Laboratory Skills Fundamentals
Laboratory Skills Fundamentals is designed to provide participants with a fundamental understanding of basic laboratory skills and techniques. Through a hands-on practical approach, participants will gain proficiency in industry related lab equipment and essential laboratory tasks. The course aims to equip participants with the foundational skills necessary for success in various laboratory settings. Topics within Laboratory Skills Fundamentals will focus on safety, pipetting techniques, measurement and volume, dilutions, quality control and data recording. Learning Outcomes: 1. Explain the principles behind different laboratory techniques. 2. Apply proper laboratory techniques and safety protocols to conduct experiments accurately. 3. Analyze experimental data to identify patterns, trends, and outliers. 4. Assess the accuracy and precision of laboratory measurements. 5. Create comprehensive and well-structured lab reports that communicate findings effectively. Total class hours - 12
CHEM-1020Analytical Chemistry: Chromatography
Analytical Chemistry: Chromatography is designed to provide participants seeking practical expertise in utilizing chromatography techniques within an industrial context. Participants will delve into the application of chromatography techniques in pharmaceuticals, environmental analysis, and biotechnology, with a focus on method validation. The micro-credential delivers a balance of theoretical knowledge and demonstration, ensuring participants are equipped with the skills necessary for success in a laboratory setting. This micro-credential aims to cultivate a high level of competency in participants by providing practical skills in instrument operation, method optimization, and real-world applications. Learning Outcomes: 1. Identify common applications of chromatography in various industries. 2. Demonstrate a working knowledge of chromatography instrumentation. 3. Develop chromatography methods tailored to specific industrial needs. 4. Identify key parameters for method validation (precision, accuracy, specificity, etc.) 5.
