Start Your Path in the Skilled Trades
If you’re interested in a career in the trades, but not sure where to start, you don’t have to figure it out on your own. Pre-apprenticeship programs are designed to help you take that first step towards exploring the trades for the first time, changing careers, or looking for a new direction.
What is a Pre-Apprenticeship Program?
Pre-apprenticeship programs are FREE training opportunities that prepare you to enter an apprenticeship, even if you have little or no prior experience.
These programs combine:
- Hands-on, practical training
- Introductory technical training aligned with Level 1 apprenticeship learning
- Academic upgrading and essential workplace skills
- Safety certifications and job readiness training
- Job search support and career coaching
- A paid work placement with a local employer
By the end of the program, you’ll have the skills, experience, and confidence to take the next step into an apprenticeship and a successful career in the trades.
Who are these programs for?
Pre-apprenticeship programs are designed to support individuals who are:
- Exploring the skilled trades as a career path
- Unsure where to start or which trade is the right fit
- Looking to transition into a new career
- Re-entering the workforce
- Women, newcomers, youth and other groups underrepresented in the skilled trades
