This course is designed to allow the students to advance their skills in video compositing, visual effects and animation. The students will be creating visual effects and animations that are similar to those seen on television and in films. Individual, group projects, exercises and practical tests will be used to help each student learn new skills and develop problem-solving techniques for the post production industry. Students also share their own creative techniques through presentations that help build a strong learning environment. | ||||
TVSN-6011 | Post Production Development | 2.5 | ||
This course will enable the Visual Effects and Editing student to experience working independently in the post production industry simulated environment. Students will have an opportunity to experience different post production scenarios, projects and deadlines. A combination of simulated client projects and independent work will allow the students to develop their skills, receive feedback and learn from valuable first-hand experience with post production. | ||||
TVSN-6003 | Digital Applications Theory | 2 | ||
This course looks at the theory of digital technology and the process required to apply it to digital post production, computer graphics creation, digital compositing, and digital compression of audio and video data. It is important that the process be taught in a generic sense, so that students will be able to adapt their knowledge to various types of equipment found in the post production industry. | ||||
TVSN-6013 | Post Production Editing 1 | 5.5 | ||
This course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to develop an advanced understanding of Camera, Workflow & Non-Linear Editing. Students will be encouraged to explore their creativity while completing a variety of assignments relevant to the current post production market. The practical hands on experience students receive will expand their knowledge of Digital Media creation and manipulation, across a variety of genres and editing styles. | ||||
TVSN-6012 | Production for Visual Effects | 5.5 | ||
In this course the student will film unique footage in the studio and in the field to be used in Visual Effects and Editing Assignments for other courses. Camera, lighting, shot blocking and staging techniques will be taught through a series of workshops and studio exercises and projects. The students will be operating professional cameras and lighting equipment during this course. The footage that is captured during this course will be used for individual projects as well as for class assignments and future VEE students in the program for years to come. | ||||

TVSN-6014 | Visual Effects 2 | 4 | ||
This course is designed to give the Visual Effects and Editing student an opportunity to complete a major project. The intent of the project is to have the student focus on specific areas of interest such as animation, visual FX and motion graphics. Practical work and problem solving will be needed to complete a complex term project. A series of smaller assignments will also expand the skills of the students. | ||||
TVSN-6015 | Post Production Editing 2 | 4 | ||
This course is designed to expand upon the skills the students learned in the first semester in course TVSN-6013, and put them to more practical use. Students will spend time learning virtual reality video recording and editing, colour grading, motion graphics and using editing & compositing techniques to incorporate the three together. Students will also learn video compression and file delivery formats used commonly in the post production industry. Upon completion, students will have a complete show reel, and the skills required to work in a Post-Production environment. | ||||
TVSN-6007 | Digital Internship | 4.4 | ||
This course is designed to enable the Visual Effects and Editing Student to complete an industry internship or an internal practicum at Fanshawe College. The student may research either a broadcaster, local television station, post production company or another media related company for their potential internship. Some locations will require resumes, portfolios and/or personal interviews prior to acceptance. Students must arrange their own internship within the industry or complete an internal practicum at Fanshawe College. | ||||

This independent work and research will help prepare them for the life long learning that is required to be successful in the industry. | ||||
INNV-6003 | Emerging Technology | 4 | ||
In this course the student will have the opportunity to explore new technology and techniques in the Visual Effects and Editing Industry. Hands on lab activities and research assignments will be key components of this course. The student will develop adaptive and innovative problem solving skills through a combination of lab based activities, research and exercises. Students will work in industry situations and will be encouraged to think outside the box, progress their knowledge to challenge and advance the techniques and tools that are used in the media industry. | ||||
