Math Booster for Trades - Micro-credential

This face-to face Math Booster microcredential aids learners in improving math foundation skills required to be successful in various college (pre-) apprenticeship programs, workplace, and/or everyday life. Learners will review and practice the following skills: calculation of volume, area, and perimeters in unique figures; conversion between fractions and decimals and between imperial and metric; rounding; fractions; imperial and metric measurements; use of a rate of comparison to differentiate between units and sizes and accurately predict product multiplications; personal and workplace finance and budgeting. The workbook will be provided. Learning Outcomes: 1. Calculate measurement and making conversions to meet product standards of installation and construction 2. Take and record imperial measurements, calculate qualities and determine tool or material's sizes 3. Convert decimal reading to an accurate measure, select correct tool sizes 4. Adjust mixtures and size, calculate scales and dimensions, determine rates of increase, or decrease 5. Calculate accurately Area and Perimeter for the use of product and materials, calculate capacity and load as well as surface area, find the center of figures and use formulas to cut slopes 6. Calculate Volume for estimate of building materials and supplies, determine capacity of storage tanks of containers 7. Understand the importance of personal finance, create budget for work and everyday life 8. Solve problems using dimension and measuring, elevations and grade, fractions, percentages, and algebra Total class hours: 20
