This course applies the principles of professional communication in the Canadian industry. It explores intercultural communication and the characteristics of diverse worldviews. Students will identify issues involved in communications and global diversity, and develop necessary skills to create professional documents that adhere to Canadian standards. Through presentations, case studies and thematic readings, students will learn written, verbal and nonverbal skills that are essential to business management, while maintaining sensitivity to issues involving geographic, cultural, gender and ability diversity. Throughout the course, students will work both individually and in groups to build their knowledge and skills needed to demonstrate professional communication within Canadian businesses.
FINA-6025Financial Analysis & Management4
This course provides students with a comprehensive overview of financial analysis and management principles/practices. This course is intended to prepare general business managers for decision making in day-to-day operations, while developing their understanding to effectively use key financial statements that Canadian businesses rely on. Students will use cases to compare firms, as well as to analyze past and current performance in order to make decisions regarding present and future cash flow within a company. Working capital and sources of financing (long and short-term) will be explored in detail.

This course introduces students to the principles and practices of managing people and Canadian organizations. This course is built around four key components of management: leading, planning, organizing and controlling. The course examines the challenges managers face within an organization. Students will use experiential learning tools to explore and analyze the function of structure and process within a company and to develop internal resources for leading and planning.
MGMT-6137Management in Human Resources4
In this course, students will explore the strategic role of the human resources management professional within the Canadian industry. They will examine various innovative organizational goals and strategic objectives used by Human Resource professionals in Canadian businesses, and they will be prepared to train and develop, recruit and select the future members of their teams. This course will cover topics such as performance management, employment legislation, planning, and career development. Students will gain hands-on experience and apply their knowledge and understanding of HR management by critically analyzing and proposing revisions to a human resources strategy and plan.
MGMT-6138Leadership in Management4
Leaders are individuals who direct and influence others towards achieving goals within a business. In this course, students will learn about leadership styles that inspire, innovate, and motivate workers within Canadian businesses. By understanding and learning to apply methods through integrated case-based study, students will gain hands-on experience and a methodology of leadership. This course emphasizes the role of credibility, common purpose, effective feedback, and ethics, in order to develop powerful leadership methods that can be applied throughout various organizations. It explores the values and visions of Canadian organizations and trains students to build leadership skills and the insight and judgement necessary to make a significant impact on the operational effectiveness of an organization.
DEVL-6025Canadian Workplace Preparation 13
This course will stress the essential employability skills needed to begin a professional career in the business industry. Throughout this course, students will develop a professional image as it is an integral element to their career success. Students will develop a personal career portfolio suitable for employment in the Canadian workplace. A wide range of career-specific topics will be discussed to enhance the students' ability to gain successful employment and increase their understanding of the importance of developing a career strategy. Emphasis will be on social media management and communication skills relevant to the job market.

ACCT-6015Accounting for Managers4
In this course, students will define the role of a manager and identify the necessary information managers need in order to effectively make decisions, plan, and implement organizational changes. This course will explore cost accounting fundamentals as well as traditional and contemporary approaches to product costing in Canadian businesses. Students will apply their knowledge and utilize a selection of cost analysis and planning tools in order to make key management decisions.
LAWS-6042Canadian Business Law4
In this course, students will explore the Canadian constitution and court system. This course will cover specific topics in Canadian law such as the following: torts, contracts, property (personal, real and intellectual), security interests, agency, forms of business organization, the legal aspects of credit, and employment law. Students will learn to recognize legal and ethical dilemmas and will prepare a case analysis using a current issue in Canadian business.
MGMT-6139Management & Leadership in Operations4
Effective management of operations ensures that goods and services are created and delivered successfully through the value chain to the end customer. Students will be taught to apply various operational and leadership strategies to overcome challenges within Canadian businesses. With an emphasis on forecasting, students will learn about how forecast results are managed within an organization and how to manage and adjust inventory levels to resolve issues. This course will focus on competitiveness, productivity, forecasting, Lean System, Total Quality Management (TQM), as well as the ability to critically analyze key contemporary issues within Canadian organizations and problems within operations management. Students will also explore various strategies focused on customer satisfaction and decision-making.
MGMT-6140Behavioural Management & Leadership4
This course explores the principles of organizational behaviour in Canadian businesses. Students will be introduced to the various theories, concepts and principles within organizational behavior and will learn how to utilize them to improve team performance and business processes. Students will also develop a core understanding of the essential role of leadership when it comes to motivating employees. This course also covers the core understanding of power and influence, conflict, and communication. Using group case studies, students will apply key principles to organizational development.
MGMT-6141Management & Leadership in Sales4
This course explores current sales management matters such as territory and time management, sales compensation and incentive systems, prospecting and qualifying sales leads and sales training methods. Students will develop the skills necessary to manage customer relationships effectively as they relate to Canadian business environments. They will also cover theories of customer motivation and customer behaviours. Through in-class activities such as role-play and case studies, students will develop integrative sales techniques that can be modified to fit various Canadian industries. Additionally, students will prepare realistic sales presentations using sales management techniques based on a strategic and consultative model.
COMP-6049Computer Applications3
A business management professional requires robust computer skills. This course provides students with real-world applications of practical and common skills associated with word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet programs used in the business industry. Students will also learn how to work with advanced internet features, social media applications, and online collaboration tools.

MGMT-6142Integrated Business Consultancy12
This course will provide students with an experiential learning opportunity that will leverage real world experiences from the local London business community. Students will be assigned a local London business client to work with on a consultancy basis to produce and present detailed management solutions to actual problems related to HR, finance, value chain, or leadership that are being experienced by the company. Students will conduct interviews with company principals, produce a comprehensive research report, and deliver presentations to the company regarding their analysis and recommendations.
MGMT-6143Project Mgmt & Organizational Structures4
Managing projects effectively includes the management of multiple factors, including teams, schedules, budgets, time, and quality. In this course, students will explore the methodologies of project management as well as the Project Management Institute's (PMI) knowledge areas in order to gain a thorough understanding of the tools and techniques used by Canadian managers. Through class discussions, independent and group experiential learning, students will develop skills to evaluate project objectives and priorities and create comprehensive project plans. Additionally, students will build on their interpersonal management techniques involving negotiation, conflict resolution, group dynamics and project leadership.
RSCH-6010Qualitative Research Methods4
In this course, students will examine qualitative research purposes, design, planning, data collection, evaluation and reporting. Qualitative research methods are explored, which may include interview, panel/focus group, observational, description, social network analysis, and other sociometric methods. Students will apply analytical methods and software tools to qualitative research data.
RSCH-6011Quantitative Research Methods4
In this course, students will review the principles of quantitative research design and statistical analysis methods, including concepts and methods to assess probability, dispersion, central tendency and simple correlation, inferential statistics and nonparametric statistics. Students will learn to apply multivariate methods using real-world evaluation and policy contents. Multivariate methods will focus on multiple regression techniques and basic analysis of variance. Topics include measurement reliability and validity of inferences, and use of software for statistical analysis.

An effective manager approaches challenges and obstacles with transparency and ethical responsibility. This course is designed to prepare students to become successful managers within Canadian organizations. Students will identify concerns within the social, economic, as well as political aspects of a business, and apply ethical and environmentally sustainable concepts to determine a sustainable solution. They will identify the major stakeholder groups that interact with business organizations and complete case-based learning activities while demonstrating successful application of the principles of sustainability. Students will reflect on their experiences in the Integrated Business Consultancy and refine the solution they developed in consideration of corporate social responsibility.
MGMT-6145Value Chain Management4
Canadian managers require a solid understanding of international standards of manufacturing and distribution channels that are used to produce and transport goods to market through various companies and countries. This course is designed to prepare students to plan efficient integrated production, inventory, delivery, and return strategies while minimizing risk within their company. Students will learn to implement cost-effective strategies for the movement of goods and services globally, while maintaining regulation and documentation standards. Upon completion of the course, students will have be able to use standard trade terminology and describe the relationships associated with multiple directional flows of goods and services. Students will reflect on their experiences in the Integrated Business Consultancy and refine the solution they developed in consideration global supply chain.
MGMT-6146Global Perspective On e-Commerce4
In this course, students will explore the applications and challenges of e-Commerce in a global environment. They will develop review e-Commerce topics, including security issues, billing and payment systems, and supply chain. By utilizing a case-study method of learning, this course will prepare students to analyze existing e-Commerce plans as well as assess potential e-Commerce business opportunities in Canadian companies to determine their potential future value. Students will reflect on their experiences in the Integrated Business Consultancy and refine the solution they developed with a global perspective.
MGMT-6147Trends in Management & Leadership4
Leaders of the 21st century require specific leadership skills and qualities. This course will cover key concepts, including leadership as a process, leadership behaviour and skills, and situational leadership. Throughout the course, students will explore how new social networking technologies and trends are linking tech savvy customers with Canadian businesses at local, regional and global levels. Students will critically examine traditional and modern leadership styles and behaviours while identifying ways that a personal leadership style can affect a business. They will also apply various abilities and behaviours of effective leaders to their case-based assignments, discussions and group work. Students will reflect on their experiences in the Integrated Business Consultancy and refine the solution they developed based on trends in management and leadership.
