Post-Admission Requirements

The following items are applicable to the program and are time sensitive:
Immunizations

  •   Proof of immunizations are required to be submitted prior to first class In accordance with Ambulance Service Communicable Disease Standard
  •   Students cannot proceed to field or clinical placement without proof of immunization
  •   Refer to mandatory immunization record

Class 'F' Driver's License

  •   Required by December 31st, prior to term two
  •   Prerequisite for Ambulance Operations course

Police Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening

  •  Required prior to first class
  •  Including a check of the Pardoned Sexual Offenders Database
  •  Must be current within 6 months of the start of placement

Standard First Aid certificate (or higher level[i.e., Emergency Medical Responder])

  •  Required prior to first class
  • St. John Ambulance or Canadian Red Cross or equivalent
  •  Must be current within 3 years

(CPR) certificate

  •  Required prior to the first class
  •  Must be Basic Life Support (BLS) level
  •  Heart and Stroke Foundation or equivalent
  •  Must be current within 1 year

Minimum G2 licence required by start of program.

  •  An Ontario driver's licence (G2) is required for admission to the Paramedic program.


N95 Mask Fit test

  • Required prior to the start of field placements in semester one
  • Testing dates will be made available over the summer and early September
  • Must be fit tested on a mask that is approved for use among paramedic services
  • Must be current within 1 year
