Fundamentals of Virtual Private Networks - Micro-credential
As communications and networking technologies evolve, alternatives to traditional enterprise networks have emerged. There is demand in all sectors and industries for employees who not only understand these emerging technologies but can also implement them to save time and money while increasing security of corporate communications. This micro-credential allows current industry employees to build or increase their knowledge in the areas of virtual private networks (VPN) through a series of weekly modules targeted specifically to the learning outcomes and topic areas. This course will be self-paced, asynchronous, and non-instructor led. Students will need access to a computer and to the internet in order to access the free, open-source tools required to complete the active learning exercises, read the publicly available articles and other digital resources (videos websites, etc.) and to connect with the college's Learning Management System. Learning Outcomes: 1. Describe the types of Virtual Private Networks 2. Explore the role of encryption and authentication in VPN 3. Discuss and Implement IPSec and SSL solutions in corporate environments 4. Implement remote-access VPNs over IPSec and SSL 5. Identify, troubleshoot, test VPN issues Total class hours - 24
