As related to the transportation industry students will study the fundamentals, purpose, styles, principle of operation, maintenance/testing, diagnosing, and specifications of HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), as well as fluid power hydraulic systems. Cabs and controls systems including truck, trailer and articulating coach combinations are also part of this course study. | ||||

A case study based course with the objective to return a failing Dealer Service Department to profitability. Students will work individually or in groups online using the skills learned in MGMT 5041 Management Principles to address issues in the case study. MGMT 5043 Applied Management will introduce shop efficiency and profitability calculations to measure and track improvements. There will be situations introduced in all weeks to allow students to gain an understanding of warranty, goodwill policy and legal considerations that surface in the daily operation of a dealer service department. Dealing with personnel and customer issues is also a central part of the course. The individual student or groups will present the steps taken and the results of their project to return the Service Department to profitability in a final presentation. | ||||
