This micro-credential series will provide students with the necessary knowledge, skills, and experiences to initiate and develop an outdoor education program and outdoor classrooms for children. | The Risky Play & Safety in Outdoor Education micro-credential will provide students with the necessary knowledge, skills, and experiences to initiate and develop an outdoor education program that supports risky play, self-regulation and safety among children. This micro-credential will explore the education theories of risky play and self-regulation, while also providing the skills necessary to develop a safe outdoor education program. Curriculum topics include, self-regulation, risky play, risk management and safety. Learning Outcomes: 1.Develop and apply an understanding of self-regulation and its role in the outdoor environment. 2.Develop and apply an understanding of risky play, risk management and safety. | The Outdoor Classroom micro-credential will provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills to initiate and design an outdoor classroom for children. The micro-credential will explore experiential education theories and hands-on methodologies. Curriculum topics will include, outdoor education pedagogy, loose parts and natural materials, designing an outdoor classroom, etc. Learning Outcomes: 1.Construct outdoor environments that stimulate inquiry and process-led learning. 2.Apply knowledge of loose parts and natural materials to develop outdoor classrooms.
