Through virtual lecture, case scenarios, and discussion, this micro-credential will support learners in understanding and applying concepts of personhood to people with dementia. Dementia is a stigmatized condition, and symptoms can overshadow other aspects of a unique person. Upon completing this micro-credential, students will have a solid understanding of personhood and personcentered care, understand the actions which promote and demote personhood, and utilize personhood tools. Learning Outcomes: 1. Identify the general symptoms of dementia 2. Recognize the core feature and precipitants of stigma, as related to dementia 3. Analyze the features of person-centered care through case-based scenarios? 4. List and apply each of the maladaptive Interactions and personhood-promoting interactions, according to Kitwood's work 5. GERI-1009The Dementia Caregiver
Through virtual lecture, case scenarios, and discussion, this micro-credential provides tools for learners to better understand the experience of dementia caregivers. Learners will assess the caregiving role, the impact of stress, burden, and burnout, and coping strategies to utilize as caregivers. This micro-credential would be suitable for informal and formal caregivers, as well as health and social care workers who support caregivers. Upon completion of this micro-credential, learners will develop a knowledge of: . The caregiver profile . The caregiving role . The impact of stress, burden, and burnout .
