It has been one year since the release of the award winning Quaran-tunes playlist on Spotify and Fanshawe is back with Quaran-2unes! The Quaran-2unes playlist features a total of 31 artists, 11 of which are making their debut contribution to this series of playlists, including Jesse Slack, CMJustice and Chase Heaslip, among others.
With the closure of music venues and the cancellation of live music, the pandemic changed the music industry in a way that had never been seen before. “When the pandemic hit it was devastating! I had some of the biggest gigs of my career cancelled,” shares Jesse Slack, MIA 2011, “But I have always found in the music business that roadblocks present opportunities and I made the best out of it. During the pandemic I got signed to my first publishing deal in Nashville as a songwriter. Now with everything re-opening, I am confident there are bigger things to come as I have had the time to work on my craft and become a more authentic version of myself.”
2021 was a notable year for several of our featured artists:
- Haviah Mighty performed as part of the 30th anniversary celebration of Rap Recording of the Year at the JUNOS
- BreakNew Friends won Slaight Music's $100,000 "It's Your Shot" contest
- Lost In Japan won Corus Entertainment Radio's second annual $20,000 Summer Song Contest
- Jesse Slack co-wrote a song on “Jade Eagleson”, which was nominated for JUNO Country Album of the Year in 2021
“It’s been a tough few years for artists and other creatives alike. We’re so happy and inspired to see our peers come out the other side with new music," notes Conrad Galecki, New Friends. "We’re forever grateful to have music coming out and be a part of Quaran-2unes.”
Fanshawe is incredibly proud of the resiliency shown by our MIA and APR students and alumni artists throughout the second year of the pandemic. Join us in celebrating these artists by listening to some of the songs they released since April 2021, featured on Quaran-2unes.
