Non-Pharmacological Mgmt of Dementia - Micro-credential

This micro-credential will offer learners a comprehensive discussion of the common symptoms of dementia. Through virtual lecture, case scenarios, and discussion, learners will develop an understanding of eight common symptoms of dementia called the 8A's of Dementia. Further, learners will develop practical skills to employ when responding to these common symptoms of dementia. Learning Outcomes: 1. Identify the general symptoms of dementia 2. Explain the underlying causes of amnesia, aphasia, agnosia, apraxia, anosognosia, altered perceptions, attentional deficits, and apathy 3. Recognize outward behavioural changes observed when a person with dementia is living with each of the 8As 4. Apply and reflect upon evidence-based supportive strategies which can be employed to support a person who is living with each of the 8As of dementia Total class time- 6 hours
