Courses

Level 1
Take all of the following Mandatory Courses:
MANF-6004Reinforcements, Matrices, Laminates3
This course provides a comprehensive overview of composites manufacturing, including reinforcements, matrices, lamination principles, proper application of coring materials, and the essentials of composite material fabrication techniques.
MATS-6001Material Properties3
Manufacturing processes and products depend on the properties of the materials involved. In this course, students will examine and calculate material properties such as strength, stiffness, ductility, and impact resistance for composites and advanced materials.
DESG-6002Design-Intro3
This course will focus on best practices in regards to the design of composite components. Students will acquire a fundamental understanding of key design factors, evaluation of load conditions, Design For Manufacturability elements, and of trade-off analysis matrices for optimized selection of material and manufacturing processes.
MANF-6005Fabrication Techniques3
There are many manufacturing techniques employed for the fabrication of components and structures using composite materials. In this course, students will be introduced to a broad range of these techniques, including co-fabrication, infusion processes, wet-bagging and unidirectionals.
MANF-6006Patterns & Moulds3
Modern composite material fabrication requires an understanding of many related processes. In this course, students will engage in hands-on activities for pattern design, mould and tool making, and the application of coatings and gel-coats.
MGMT-6114Project Management2.5
In this course, students will acquire the skills to develop, design, manage, plan, and schedule aerospace projects. Students will undertake feasibility analyses and environmental and social constraint studies, and they will identify and apply a range of controls for project cost, timelines, and technical performance.
COOP-1020Co-operative Education Employment Prep1
This workshop will provide an overview of the Co-operative Education consultants and students' roles and responsibilities as well as the Co-operative Education Policy. It will provide students with employment preparatory skills specifically related to co-operative education work assignments and will prepare students for their work term.
