This course is a preparatory course for provincial licensing requirements for those who wish to sell life insurance and other life insurance products in Ontario. Topics discussed in this course include individual and group life insurance, disability insurance, insurance investment products, underwriting and claims processes, the risk management process and legal and professional standards.
Health care practitioners are often working in environments of high stress. Care of self and others, including dealing with grief, loss and stress will be discussed. Post-traumatic stress disorder will also be highlighted - from a self and patient perspective.
All aspects of palliative care will be discussed, including but not limited to: end of life issues, communication techniques, advanced care planning, "cancer talk", etc. Also, recent legislative changes around assisted suicide will be discussed.
The youth go through many key transitions during this sensitive period. The prevalence of suicide in the community will be discussed including coping mechanisms and how to get support.
